Next-gen sessions, designed for younger players of all ages, take place 2nd & 4th Sundays every month, from 5-6:30 p.m. at Flanagan's Harp & Fiddle (4844 Cordell Avenue, Bethesda, MD). It's an inter-generational mix of kids and adults, a good place for beginning and intermediate players to learn some new tunes, share some of their favorites, learn a bit about session etiquette and have some good craic. At CCE's Musical Arts and Dance Week, instrumental, singing, and dance classes are designed to offer participants of all ages and abilities a unique opportunity to improve their playing in a challenging and exciting environment. It boasts not only classes and workshops with the finest of Irish traditional musicians and dancers but also fabulous faculty concerts, an evening Ceili, a student concert, and lunchtime activities and electives of all kinds. For the wee folk MAD Week’s Youth & Kids Camp is a creative, nurturing, inclusive program for rising 2nd through 7th graders interested in the Irish Arts. Suitable for all levels, students will have the opportunity to build their traditional music and dance skills, explore traditional arts, participate in community gatherings (sessions and ceilis), and collaborate with their peers to build a unique end-of-week presentation. And best of all – have fun! This camp is day-camp style with before and after care available. Students with no instrument experience can begin with the tin whistle. Experienced musicians can join suitable main MAD Week classes.
